Revitalization of a Historic Castle Complex into an International Conference Center

A historic atmosphere. Reimagined for modern gatherings.

 

Waldthausen Castle is located in the heart of the Lenneberg Forest, just outside Mainz. The historic complex has been extensively modernized and transformed into an international seminar, conference, and event center.

TKS and TKS Engineering undertook extensive planning and construction work for the castle, the auditorium, the residential buildings, the north wing, and other areas of the site. The scope of services ranged from architectural and technical planning to hazardous material remediation, fire protection, and building services, through to complete interior finishing.

The guest rooms and bathrooms in the residential buildings were extensively renovated and equipped with contemporary amenities. Custom-designed color, material, and furnishing concepts create a cohesive aesthetic. In addition, TKS was responsible for the furnishing and other FF&E services.

The event and common areas were also redesigned and technically modernized. Particular emphasis was placed on upgrading the fire water supply, safety systems, and other technical installations. The historic building structures and the requirements of historic preservation were carefully integrated with today’s standards for fire safety, technology, and usage.

The result is a modern event venue with historic character that combines focused work, personal encounters, and shared experiences in a unique setting.
