Comprehensive Renovation and Repositioning of an Inner-City Hotel Property

From an existing building to a modern city hotel.

 

In the heart of Cologne, an existing hotel property underwent extensive modernization and was repositioned for continued use as the Premier Inn City Centre. The comprehensive renovation included 97 rooms as well as the building’s public, technical, and operational areas.

As part of a design-build project, TKS provided planning and construction services from a single source. In addition to extensive modifications to the existing structure, the scope of work included structural work, the renewal of building services, interior finishing, and the renovation and redesign of the hotel areas.

A particular challenge lay in dealing with the existing building structure. Planning and execution had to be continuously adapted to the actual conditions of the existing structure. Thanks to close collaboration among all parties involved, technical requirements could be addressed early on, interfaces were minimized, and the individual construction phases were implemented in a coordinated manner.
