At 29–31 Straße der Pariser Kommune in Berlin-Friedrichshain, a historically protected residential building is undergoing a comprehensive energy-efficiency renovation to ensure its long-term continued use.
TKS Engineering is responsible for the overall planning of the renovation measures. The planning services include the development and coordination of energy-efficiency, structural, and technical measures, as well as their careful adaptation to the existing building structure.
TKS is responsible for the structural implementation of the energy-efficiency retrofit and the supplementary capital expenditure (Capex) measures. A key focus is on improving the energy performance of the building envelope. This includes, among other things, the installation of an external thermal insulation composite system.
The particular challenge lies in reconciling the requirements for energy efficiency, historic preservation, and technical functionality. Existing design features are to be preserved, while the building’s energy performance and sustainability are significantly improved.
Through the close integration of general planning and execution, the individual measures are coordinated at an early stage and implemented as a seamless process. In this way, the historic building fabric is sustainably developed and permanently preserved as part of Berlin’s cityscape.
